NUS Indian Instrumental Ensemble (NUS IIE), a member of NUS Centre For the Arts, is an Indian musical ensemble comprising undergraduates and alumni from National University of Singapore. Founded in 1987, IIE promotes the diversity of Indian music to the cosmopolitan population of NUS.It combines traditional instruments such as the Sitar, Veena and Tabla; Western instruments such as the keyboard and the guitar; and Indian vocals to present a wide repertoire of music. These range from classical songs with roots in Carnatic and Hindustani music to regional folk and Sufi music.
In its 30 years, NUS IIE has explored themes ranging from the evolution of music in the Indian subcontinent to religion and socio-political dialogues in South Asia . Find out more by viewing our Repertoire!

Our Mission
To create a space that provides opportunities to musicians to cultivate a deeper appreciation for Indian music for beginners, performance opportunities for the more skilled so that they can continue to pursue their artistic practices.


Our Vision
1. To be a group in NUS that produces Indian classical music that is enriched with music from various cultures and contemporary elements, with a bold and an experimental verve whilst maintaining high standards of quality.
